ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อฝอย มีช่อดอกขนาดใหญ่ยาวประมาณ 2 ฟุต ช่อดอกจะแยกออกเป็นแขนง ในแต่ละแขนงมีดอกย่อยอยู่ 4-5 ช่อ [1]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ล้มลุก มีหัวหรือเหง้าอยู่ใต้ดิน ลำต้นตั้งตรง แตกออกเป็นกอ ที่โคนเป็นกาบชั้นๆ ลำต้นเป็นสีแดง ยาว สูงประมาณ 2 เมตร [1]

ถิ่นที่พบ : พบมากแถบเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ [1]

ใบ : ใบยาวกว่าตะไคร้บ้าน ใบแคบและยาว 1 เมตร กว้าง 5-20 มม. มีสีเขียว ผิวเกลี้ยวและมีกลิ่นหอม [1]
