ดอก : ออกเป็นช่ออยู่ตรงส่วนยอดของก้าน ก้านดอกย่อยเรียวเล็ก กลีบดอกมีสีขาว หรือขาวปนม่วง มี 4 กลีบ ก้านชูเกสรยาว ดอกที่อยู่กลางช่อจะบานก่อน [1] [3]

ดอก : เป็นดอกช่อสีจางหรือสีเหลืองอ่อน กลีบเลี้ยง 4 กลีบ กลีบดอก 4 กลีบ กลีบดอกเป็นรูปไข่ยาว 8-14 มิลลิเมตร เกสรตัวผู้มี 6 อัน ดอกมีก้านของเกสรตัวผู้และเกสรตัวเมียยาว [2] [4]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุก แตกกิ่งก้านสาขาออกรอบต้น ตามลำต้นมีขนอ่อน ๆ ปกคลุมอยู่และเมื่อจับดูจะเหนียวติดมือ ลำต้นสูงประมาณ 1 ฟุต [1] [3]

ต้น : เป็นพืชล้มลุก รากมีรากแก้ว และรากแขนงจำนวนมาก ลำต้นและใบมีขนปกคลุมทั่วไปมียางเหนียว [2] [4]

ผล : เป็นฝักยาวชูขึ้น ฝักแก่แตกได้ เมล็ดมีสีน้ำตาลหรือดำ เป็นรูปไต [1] [3]

ผล : เป็นฝักเรียวยาว ยาวประมาณ 4-7 เซนติเมตร กว้าง 3-4 มิลลิเมตร [2] [4]

เมล็ด : มีขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 1.5 มิลลิเมตร เมล็ดรูปไตและเรียงอยู่ในฝัก ฝักแก่จะแตกออกเป็น 2 ซีก [2] [4]

ใบ : เป็นใบประกอบ ก้านๆ หนึ่งจะมีใบย่อยประมาณ 3-5 ใบ ซึ่งจะเรียงกันคล้ายกับรูปนิ้วมือ ใบย่อยแต่ละใบนั้นจะมีขนาดไม่เท่ากัน เกิดจากจุดเดียวกัน ก้านใบยาว มีสีเขียวและมีขนอ่อน ๆ ปกคลุมอยู่คล้ายกับลำต้น [1] [3]

ใบ : เป็นใบประกอบ มีใบย่อย 3-5 ใบ ลักษณะรูปไข่ปลายแหลม กลีบใบ หรือขอบใบขนาน โคนใบสอบ ขอบใบเป็นคลื่น ใบตรงกลางมีความยาว 2-7.5 เซนติเมตร กว้าง 1-4 เซนติเมตร [2] [4]

ได้มีการทดลองแล้วว่า ผักเสี้ยนนี้จะเป็นพิษต่อลูกแกะ และพวกเป็ดไก่ ซึ่งรายงานนี้ ได้มาจากประเทศออสเตรเลีย ในรัฐควีนสแลนด์ และผักเสี้ยนนี้จะไม่มีใครรับประทานกันสด ๆ เพราะภายในใบ และต้น จะมีสารเป็นพิษอยู่

ใบและยอดผักเสี้ยนสด จะมีสารเป็นพิษไฮโดรไซยาไนด์ (Hydrocyanide) และสารนี้จะมีผลต่อประสาทส่วนกลาง ฉะนั้นจึงไม่มีใครกินผักสด ๆ จะมีวิธีแก้โดยการนำมาต้ม หรือดองเพื่อขจัดสารพิษนี้ แล้วนำมาทานเป็นผักจิ้มได้

ห้ามสตรีรับประทานมากๆ เพราะจะทำให้ระดูพิการ มีระดูขาวมากและมีกลิ่นเหม็นจัด ทำให้มดลูกไม่ดี รับประทานมากๆอาจเป็นลมได้ สำหรับแม่ลูกอ่อนหากรับประทานมาก อาจมีอันตรายถึงตายได้
