ดอก : ดอกออกเป็นช่อติดกันเป็นกระจุกยาว ซึ่งออกบริเวณยอดกิ่ง มีสีเหลืองอมเขียว กลีบดอกแยกเป็น 4 กลีบ ปลายกลีบมน มีรอยยับย่นกลีบดอกมีขนาดยาวประมาณ 3-5 มม. ฐานดอกมีกลีบเลี้ยงเชื่อมติดกันยาวประมาณ 2-2.5 มม. กลางดอกมีเกสรตัวผู้และตัวเมีย ดอกบานเต็มที่มีขนาดกว้างประมาณ 8-10 มม. [3] [4] [5]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้พุ่ม ลำต้นมีกิ่งก้านสาขามาก มีความสูงราว 3-6 เมตร ลักษณะของกิ่งก้านเมื่อยังอ่อนมีรูปเป็นเหลี่ยมเกลี้ยงไม่มีขน [3] [4]

ถิ่นที่พบ : ปลูกได้ทั่วไป มีถิ่นกำเนิดในแถบแอฟริกาเหนือ และเอเชียตอนใต้ [8]

ผล : มีลักษณะเป็นรูปกลม คล้ายกับเมล็ดพริกไทย มีขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางประมาณ 5-7 มม. ผลเมื่อสุกหรือแก่เต็มที่มีสีน้ำตาล ข้างในมีผลเมล็ด มีรูปเป็นเหลี่ยม เป็นจำนวนมาก [3] [4] [5] [6]

ใบ : ใบมีขนาดเล็ก มีลักษณะเป็นรูปรี ปลายใบแหลมโค้ง โคนใบแหลมเรียวสอบเข้าหากัน ขนาดของใบยาวประมาณ 2-4.5 ซม. กว้างประมาณ 1-1.5 ซม. ก้านใบสั้น [3]
