ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อ เป็นแท่งยาวมีกาบหุ้ม ด้านบนเป็นดอกเพศผู้ ดอกเพศเมียจะอยู่ด้านล่าง [1]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ล้มลุก ลำต้นสูงประมาณ 70 ซม. มีปล้อง [1]

ถิ่นที่พบ : มีถิ่นกำเนิดอยู่ในอเมริกาเขตร้อน [1]

ผล : เป็นผลสดสีแดงหรือสีส้ม มีกาบหุ้ม ผลมีเนื้อนุ่ม [1]

ใบ : เป็นรูปขอบขนานแกมรูปไข่ ใบมีสีเขียวล้วน บางพันธุ์อาจเป็นสีเขียวจุดขาว หรือสีขาวจุดสีเขียว [1]
