ดอก : ออกเป็นช่ออยู่ตรงส่วนยอดของต้น ช่อดอกใหญ่ เวลาที่ออกดอกทิ้งใบเกือบหมดต้น ลักษณะของดอกนั้นโคนดอกจะซ้อน ๆ ติดกันเป็นหลอดเล็กๆ มีกลีบอยู่ 5 กลีบ ซ้อนกันเป็นวง ดอกมีสีขาว ตรงกลางดอกมีสีเหลืองและสีชมพูเรื่อ ๆ อยู่รอบๆ กลางดอก เกสรมี 5 อัน [1] [2]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ยืนต้นขนาดเล็ก แตกกิ่งก้านสาขามาก กิ่งก้านเปราะแต่อุ้มน้ำ เปลือกเรียบเกลี้ยงสีเขียมอมเทา ถ้าหักกิ่งพบยางสีขาวๆ อยู่ภายในต้น [1] [2]

ถิ่นที่พบ : มีถิ่นกำเนิดอยู่ในอเมริกาเขตร้อน นิยมปลูกกันในประเทศเขตร้อน [4]

ผล : เป็นฝักยาว แคบ พอแก่จัดจะแตกออกเป็น 2 ซีก เมล็ดมีปีก [1]

ใบ : เป็นไม้ใบเดี่ยว ออกเรียบสลับกันไปตามข้อต้น แต่มักจะติดอยู่ตามปลายกิ่ง ใบเป็นรูปหอก ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบสอบแคบ มีเนื้อใบหนาสีเขียวเข้ม ขนาดของใบกว้างประมาณ 2-3.5 นิ้ว ยาว 6-15 นิ้ว ก้านใบยาว 1-2 นิ้ว [1]
