ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อห้อยลงมา มีกาบหุ้มสีแดงม่วง เรียกว่า ปลี ดอกย่อยออกเป็นแผงติดกัน ดอกมีฐานเป็นดอกตัวเมีย ปลายดอกเป็นดอกตัวผู้ [2]

ต้น : เป็นพืชล้มลุก ลำต้นสูง ลำต้นเหนือดินมีกาบใบหุ้มซ้อน [2]

ผล : ติดกันเป็นแผง เรียกว่า หวี ซ้อนกันหลายหวี เป็นเครือ แต่ละต้นจะให้ผลครั้งเดียวแล้วตายไป [2]

ใบ : มีสีเขียว ขนาดใหญ่ ก้านใบยาว เส้นใบขนานกัน แกนใบเห็นชัดเจน [2]
