ดอก : มีขนาดเล็ก และออกเป็นกระจุกระหว่างซอกใบและกิ่ง เป็นดอกตัวผู้กับดอกตัวเมีย ดอกของขอบชะนางแดงมีสีแดง ส่วนดอกของขอบชะนางขาวเป็นสีเขียวอมเหลือง [4]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุกจำพวกหญ้า และเลื้อยแผ่ไปตามดิน แต่ยอดจะตั้งขึ้น มี 2 ชนิด คือ ขอบชะนางแดง กับขอบชะนางขาว มีลำต้นขนาดโตกว่าก้านไม่ขีดไฟเล็กน้อย [4]

ผล : แห้งไม่แตกแบบ achene [4]

ใบ : เป็นใบเดี่ยว ออกสลับกัน เป็นรูปปลายหอก ในขอบใบชะนางแดง ส่วนรูปใบของขอบใบชะนางขาว มีลักษณรูปค่อนข้างมนและกลม เส้นใบของทั้งสองชนิด จะเห็นเด่นชัดเป็น 3 เส้น ใบจะโตประมาณ 2 กระเบียดนิ้ว ยาวประมาณ 1 นิ้วครึ่ง ถึง 1 นิ้วฟุต ส่วนสีและใบของต้นขอบชะนางมีสีม่วงอมแดง เฉพาะแผ่นใบนั้นสีจะเด่นชัดคือ หลังใบจะมีสีเขียวเข้มอมแดง ท้องใบจะเป็นสีแดงคล้ำ และสีของขอบใบชะนางเป็นสีขางอ่อนๆ รวมทั้งชนิดจะมีขนเล็กน้อยบนต้นและแผ่นใบ [4]
