ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อ ขนาดของดอกนั้นมีขนาดเล็ก ดอกตัวผู้อยู่ด้านบน และดอกตัวเมียอยู่ด้านล่าง แต่ก็อยู่ในช่อดอกเดียวกัน [1] [2]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้พุ่มชนิดหนึ่ง แตกกิ่งก้านสาขามากมาย [1] [2]

ผล : เป็นลูกกลม ๆ ยาวสีเขียว ขนาดก็ไม่ใหญ่นักจะกว้างอยู่ประมาณ 0.5 นิ้ว ยาว 0.8 นิ้ว มี 3 พู และตอนแก่จัดจะกลายเป็นสีเหลืองนวล และแตกออกเป็น 3 ซีก มองเห็นเมล็ดด้านในอยู่ 3 เมล็ด สีน้ำตาล [1] [2]

ใบ : เป็นไม้ใบเดี่ยว ออกสลับกันไปตามข้อต้นลักษณะของใบเป็นรูปหอก ปลายแหลม โคนใบกว้าง ขอบใบจัก ขนาดของใบนั้นจะค่อนข้างใหญ่ มีสีเขียวอมเหลือง แต่พอแก่จัดจะเป็นสีส้มแดงและร่วงไป [1] [2]

เมล็ดและน้ำมันสลอด มีสารเรซินที่เป็นพิษและโครตอนเรซิน มีฤทธิ์ทำให้หนังไหม้พอง คัน และเป็นพิษ และสามารถถูก saponified ได้ง่ายด้วยด่าง ทำให้หมดความเป็นพิษ นอกจากนี้สาร phorbols เป็นสารที่มีฤทธิ์เป็นยาถ่าย และทำให้เกิดการระคายเคืองแก่ระบบทางเดินอาหาร

ถ้ารับประทานรากมากจะทำให้แท้งบุตร
