ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อบริเวณยอด ช่อดอกยาว 3-6 ซม. สีม่วงแกมแดง ช่อดอกย่อยติดเป็นกระจุกที่ปลายแขนงช่อกระจุกละ 3 ช่อ แต่มีเพีงดอกเดียวเท่านั้นที่สมบูรณ์เพศ ไม่มีก้านดอก ส่วนอีก 2 ดอก เป็นดอกตัวผู้ มีก้านดอก กาบช่อดอกย่อยอันล่างเป็นรูปใบหอก มีเส้น 2 เส้น ปลายแยกเป็น 2 แฉกแหลม ตามขอบมีขนสาก กาบช่อดอกย่อยอันบน มีลักษณะคล้ายท้องเรือ กาบล่างของดอกเป็นรูปใบหอก ปลายแหลม บางใส ขอบมีขน กาบล่างของดอกอีกอันบางใส แคบ ปลายมีหนามแหลม ยาวประมาณ 5 มม. กาบบนของดอก บางใส ปลายแหลม อับเรณูมีสีส้ม ปลายเกสรตัวเมียมี 2 อัน ยาว 1-1.5 มม. มีขนละเอียดเป็นพู่คล้ายขนนก [1]

เมล็ด : เป็นรูปขอบขนาน ยาวประมาณ 2 มม. [1]

ใบ : มีมากที่โคนต้น กาบใบยาว 1-3 ซม. หุ้มรอบลำต้น มีลายตามยาว มีขนยาวนุ่มประปราย ขอบใบด้านในมีขนหนาแน่น ใบยาว 2-8 ซม. กว้าง 3-5 มม. เนื้อใบบาง เป็นมัน ขอบใบจักแหลมห่างๆ โคนใบเป็นตุ่ม และมีขน [1]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ล้มลุก จำพวกหญ้า ลำต้นทอดนอนไปกับพื้น ลำต้นมีกาบใบหุ้ม ลำต้นตั้งตรง สูง 15-25 ซม. ไม่ค่อยแตกแขนง [1]
