ดอก : ออกเป็นกระจุก 3-5 ดอก ดอกสีแดง หรือเหลือง กลีบรองดอกติดกันเป็นรูปถ้วยมีสีเขียว ปลายหยักเป็น 3-4 แฉก กลีบดอกมี 5 กลีบ รูปขอบขนาน [2]

ดอก : ออกเป็นช่ออยู่ตามปลายกิ่ง ช่อหนึ่งมี 3-5 ดอก มีสีแสดแดง สีส้ม สีเหลือง มี 5 กลีบ กลีบรองดอกเป็นสีเขียว เป็นรูปถ้วยมนแข็ง ดอกบานเต็มที่ประมาณ 4 นิ้ว กลางดอกมีเกสรซ้อนเรียงกันอยู่ 3 ชั้น และตามกลีบดอกมีขนเป็นเงาปกคลุมอยู่ เวลาออกดอกจะทิ้งใบหมด [1]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ต้น ผลัดใบ ทิ้งใบก่อนออกดอก ลำต้นมีหนามแหลมคม [2]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ยืนต้น แตกกิ่งก้านออกตามเรือนยอดของต้น ตามลำต้นมีหนามปลายแหลมคมทั่วลำต้น มีเนื้อฟ่าม ลำต้นสูงประมาณ 25-30 เมตร [1]

ถิ่นที่พบ : พบขึ้นตามป่าเบญจพรรณ [2]

ผล : มีขนาดใหญ่ เป็นรูปมนรี ที่ปลายทั้ง 2 ข้างแหลม ผลอ่อนมีสีเขียว พอแก่เป็นสีน้ำตาล เปลือกผลแข็ง ภายในผลมีเส้นใยเป็นปุยสีขาว และเมล็ดสีดำมากมาย [1]

ผล : รูปกลม ยาว ภายในมีเมล็ดสีดำหุ้มด้วยปุยฝ้ายสีขาว [2]

ใบ : เป็นใบประกอบ ก้านใบหนึ่งมีใบย่อย 4-7 ใบ ใบย่อยเรียงกันคล้ายรูปนิ้วมือ ใบย่อยเป็นรูปมนรีปลายแหลม โคนใบค่อยๆ เรียวเข้าหาก้านใบ ขนาดของใบย่อยกว้างประมาณ 1.5-2.5 นิ้ว ยาว 6-10 นิ้ว มีสีเขียว [1]

ใบ : เป็นใบประกอบ รูปนิ้วมือ มีใบย่อย 4-7 ใบ ปลายเรียวเป็นติ่งแหลม ขอบใบเรียบ โคนใบสอบแคบ หูใบร่วงง่าย [2]
