ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อที่ปลายยอด กลีบดอกสีขาว เกสรตัวผู้ที่เป็นหมัน แผ่เป็นแผ่นคล้ายกลีบดอกสีขาว มีลายเส้นตามขวาง สีน้ำตาลส้ม [2] [3]

ดอก : เป็นสีแดงอมชมพูอ่อน แล้วเปลี่ยนเป็นสีน้ำตาล ดอกรวมอยู่ในก้านเดียวกัน เป็นช่อยาวๆ [1] [7]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุก มีเหง้าหรือหัว อยู่ใต้ดินเหมือนข่า ส่วนลำต้นที่งอกขึ้นมาเหนือพื้นดินนั้น จะเป็นกาบของใบ [1] [7]

ต้น : ไม้ล้มลุก มีเหง้าใต้ดิน กลิ่นหอม แตกกอ สูงได้ถึง 1 เมตร [2] [3]

ถิ่นที่พบ : ขึ้นตามที่ชื้นแฉะ ที่ลุ่มแม่น้ำ ลำคลอง หรือริมบึง [10]

ผล : ผลกลมและโต มีขนาดเท่าผลพิกุลขนาดกลาง เมื่อผลแก่จัดเต็มที่จะเป็นสีดำ [1] [7]

ผล : ผลแห้งแตกได้ รูปทรงกลม เมล็ดสีน้ำตาลเข้ม มีกลิ่นหอม [2] [3]

ใบ : เป็นสีเขียว มีลักษณะโตและยาวเหมือนใบข่าใหญ่ กว้างประมาณ 8-20 ซม. และยาวประมาณ 30-60 ซม. [1] [7]

ใบ : ใบเดี่ยวเรียงสลับ รูปขอบขนาน หรือรูปขอบขนานแกมใบหอก กว้าง 4-7 ซม. ยาว 12-20 ซม. ผิวใบสีเขียวเข้มเป็นมัน ก้านใบเป็นแผ่น เรียงอัดแน่นคล้ายลำต้นบนดิน [2] [3]
