ดอก : ดอกเดี่ยว แทงออกจากเหง้า ด้านดอกยาว ชูดอกขึ้นเหนือน้ำ กลีบดอกสีขาวหรือชมพู เกสรตัวผู้สีเหลืองจำนวนมาก ติดอยู่รอบฐานดอกรูปกรวย [1]

ดอก : มีกลีบดอกซ้อนกันหลายชั้น ดอกทั่ว ๆ ไปจะมีสีชมพูอมม่วง และสีขาว ถ้าเราลอก เอากลีบดอกออกหมด จะเห็นรูปร่างคล้ายกรวย มีเมล็ดฝังอยู่ และจะเจริญเติบโต เป็นผล ที่เรียกกันว่าฝักบัว [2]

ต้น : เป็นไม้น้ำอายุหลายปี มีเหง้าใต้ดินยาวและเป็นปล้อง [1]

ถิ่นที่พบ : เป็นพรรณไม้เมืองร้อน ขึ้นตามลำคลอง หนอง บึง [5]

ผล : ผลแห้ง รูปรี จำนวนมาก ฝังอยู่ในฐานรองดอก [1]

ราก : รากหยั่งลงไปในดินลึก [2]

ใบ : มีลักษณะกลมและมีขนาดใหญ่ มีก้านยาวชูขึ้นพ้นผิวน้ำ ใบจะเป็นสีเขียว [2]

ใบ : เป็นใบเดี่ยวมีลักษณะกลมใหญ่สีเขียวอมเทา ใบอ่อนจะลอยปิ่มน้ำ ส่วนใบแก่จะชูพ้นน้ำ [3]

ใบ : ใบเดี่ยว รูปโล่ เส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 30-60 ซม. ผิวใบมีนวล ก้านใบยาวชูขึ้นเหนือน้ำ [1]
