ดอก : ดอกช่อ ออกจากกลางต้น มีดอกย่อยจำนวนมาก [1]

ดอก : เป็นช่อ โผล่ออกมาจากกลางกอ ช่อดอกใหญ่มีดอกหนาแน่น ก้านช่อใหญ่แข็งแรง ยาวประมาณ 3-6 นิ้ว กลีบดอกมี 3 กลีบ มีขนาดเล็กด้านบนสีฟ้าอมม่วง ด้านล่างสีขาวมีเกสร 6 อัน เรียงกันเป็น 2 ชั้น [5]

ต้น : เป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุก มีอายุอยู่หลายปี ลักษณะของลำต้นแตกออกมาเป็นกอใหญ่ ไม่มีกิ่งก้านใด ๆ ทั้งสิ้น มีแต่เพียงกาบใบที่ห่อหุ้มลำต้นไว้ มีปล้องสั้น ๆ สูงประมาณ 1-3 ฟุต [5]

ต้น : เป็นไม้ล้มลุกอายุหลายปี สูง 90-100 ซม. มีลำต้นอยู่ใต้ดิน [1]

ถิ่นที่พบ : เป็นพรรณไม้ทางตะวันออกของอเมริกาใต้ ปัจจุบันมีปลูกมากทางเขตร้อนและเขตใกล้ร้อน [6]

ผล : เกิดจากช่อดอกที่เจริญร่วมกัน ผนังเชื่อมติดกัน โดยมีแกนกลาง ลักษณะของผลเป็นรูปมนรี ตรงโคนกว้างกว่าส่วนปลาย และปลายผลมีใบเป็นกระจุกสีเขียวเข้ม และผลโตประมาณ 6 นิ้ว ยาว 8 นิ้ว มีตาอยู่รอบผล เมื่อยังอ่อนเป็นสีเขียว พอแก่กลายเป็นสีเหลืองสดและฉ่ำ [5]

ผล : เป็นผลรวม รูปทรงกระบอก มีใบเป็นกระจุกที่ปลายผล [1]

ใบ : แตกออกมาเป็นกอ เรียงแบบบันไดเวียนอย่างหนาแน่น ไม่มีก้านใบ ใบเรียวยาวปลายแหลม โคนใบเป็นกาบห่อหุ้มลำต้นอยู่ ขอบใบมีหนามบ้างเล็กน้อย ผิวใบเรียบ ด้านบนจะเป็นสีเขียวเข้มและทางสีแดง ด้านล่างออกสีขาวปนน้ำเงิน ใบกว้างประมาณ 2.5 นิ้ว ยาว 1 เมตร [5]

ใบ : ใบเดี่ยวเรียงสลับ ซ้อนกันถี่มากรอบต้น กว้าง 6.5 ซม. ยาวได้ถึง 1 เมตร ไม่มีก้านใบ [1]
